Professional Summary
Full-stack engineer. I build products end to end and put them in front of real users: BookHere, a live booking platform taking real bookings, with Stripe subscriptions and Stripe Connect deposits built end to end and proven in test mode, and two open-source apps, Out Past and OPE. I build with AI daily and review every line it writes, which is why OPE exists. Everything here is live and open, so you can check it in five minutes: bookhere.site • github.com/kidus-tefeta.
Looking for a software engineering internship. Silver Spring, MD, onsite in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area, or remote.
Technical Skills
- Core: JavaScript (ES6+), Node.js, SQL, HTML and CSS, Tailwind, React (Electron desktop app), Git and GitHub
- Backend and data: PostgreSQL with row level security, Supabase, Cloudflare Workers, REST APIs, Stripe subscriptions and Connect
- Cloud and shipping: Cloudflare Pages, Workers and KV, custom domains, DNS and SSL, GitHub Actions
- Apps: SwiftUI (iPhone, iPad, Mac), Android (Capacitor and native device owner APIs), Electron
- Also used: Three.js and WebGL, Claude API, Python for tooling
- How I work with AI: I build with an AI coder daily and review every change before it ships. OPE is the tool I wrote to make that reviewable.
Professional Experience
Founder & Software Engineer
2024 to Present · self-directedKidus Digital Group • Silver Spring, MD
- Shipped BookHere, a live booking platform for small service businesses: 29 tables, 176 database functions and 148 ordered migrations, built and maintained solo.
- Built and launched custom websites and booking pages for real clients, from first call to live domain, and still maintain them.
- Built BookHere's money side end to end and proved it in Stripe test mode: subscriptions with a webhook-driven state machine, and Connect deposits paid straight into each shop's own account. It sits behind one switch, ready to turn on.
- Run the whole stack myself: Cloudflare Workers and Pages, Supabase and PostgreSQL, Stripe, custom domains, DNS and SSL, and CI through GitHub Actions.
- Ship the same products as native apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, signed and released through GitHub Actions.
- Write the documentation and the tests, and keep every project under git with a version history anyone can read.
Selected Projects
- BookHere (bookhere.site): Live booking platform for small service businesses, built solo end to end: 29 tables, 176 database functions, 148 ordered migrations. Postgres with row-level security on every table, a GiST exclusion constraint that makes double-booking impossible, live calendar, offline-capable page builder, and native apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android. Case study: kidusdigitalgroup.com/bookhere.
- KTeC design (ktec.design): Multi-tenant apparel SaaS with a live 3D product customizer (Three.js), per-client storefronts, owner dashboards, live Stripe subscription billing, and a super-admin control plane. Built the frontend, Cloudflare Workers backend, Supabase database, billing, and native apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, and desktop.
- Out Past (open source, macOS app): A focus app for the Mac, built in Electron and React. You plan the day, start a session, and the Mac holds you to it: a root-enforced block that a LaunchDaemon and sudoers rule keep in place until the deadline passes, so quitting the app, killing the process or editing the hosts file does not end it. Two-way Google Calendar sync, a planner, and KAI, an assistant that runs a local model on the machine with on-device speech, so nothing leaves the Mac and it costs nothing to run. Ships as a signed, notarized .app. Free and open source on GitHub. Case study: kidusdigitalgroup.com/outpast.
- OPE, Out Past Engineering (open source): A free, open-source Mac and Windows app for people who build software with AI. Reads a project's git history version by version and boxes exactly which folders, files, and lines each version changed, with a bundled Monaco editor for inline fixes. Local only, no server. MIT licensed. Case study: kidusdigitalgroup.com/ope.
- The OPE course (built it, taking it): Inside OPE, a course that makes your own project the textbook: the AI coder leaves one or two pieces of each build unwritten, each with a test that fails until your code is in, and it builds nothing further until that test passes. Eight parts, 113 tested milestones. github.com/kidus-tefeta/ope.
- Kidus Digital Group (kidusdigitalgroup.com): Company site with an interactive, cursor-reactive portfolio and an embedded AI assistant, deployed on Cloudflare.
- Client Websites: Custom, animated, responsive websites and brand work for businesses and organizations, including Grace Church, Light Of Tomorrow, and A4 Studio.
Training
CS50x, Introduction to Computer Science (HarvardX) — in progress, 2026. C, memory and pointers, data structures and algorithms.
Self-taught since 2024, on shipped products rather than coursework, and working through the OPE course, the 113 milestone curriculum I built inside my own tool, from the terminal up to reviewing and rejecting an AI's code.
